12 Hour Shift
Full Time Position
Giles County Sheriff’s Department has immediate openings for Basic Corrections Officer. Work hours are 6am-6pm or 6pm-6am. Candidates must be 18 years of age and have a high school diploma/GED. Must be able to pass a background check and drug test. The pay of $15.65 – $19.76 depends on level of basic corrections experience.

Job Responsibilities of a Corrections Officer
- Regular head counts of inmates within a section
- Monitor inmate behavior and report unusual activity to ensure safety and security
- Escort inmates to job sites, medical facilities, classrooms or wherever they are needed in a timely, secure manner
- Assist other Correctional Officers with management of inmates
- Conduct regular searches of inmate areas like cells, recreation rooms and showers for unauthorized items
- Manage confrontational situations as they arise to maintain security
- Write regular reports of activities
