PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES
1 April 2025
Chair Andy Edwards opened the meeting asking Tommy Pope to offer a prayer and Commissioner Terry Jones to lead the pledge. The minutes of 4 March 2025 were moved for approval by Commissioner Terry Jones, seconded by Tommy Pope, and were approved unanimously. The Chair offered a report of an email he received from Danny Coleman, Community Development Specialist with the South Central Tennessee Development District regarding a 3-star grant to improve a street and curb. The grant requires an official approval from the Planning Commission Chair which was provided.
The Chair then asked if there were any unfinished business. The attendance of Mr. Brennan Hood, a representative of the Giles County Health Department, had been discussed in previous planning meetings and in several conversations with the County Executive (CE) Graham Stowe. Those discussion revolved around the difference in how the state and county define a “subdivision.” The CE noted that this variance has been forwarded to the county attorney for a clearer determination of which definition has precedence. The CE said he will again discuss with Mr. Hood his attendance and will plan for that to be in the next meeting, 6 May 2025.
The Chair asked for any more unfinished business and there being none, he asked if there were any new business. The Chair said if there is a confirmation on Mr. Hood’s attendance that information would be provided in advance of the next meeting, as well as any additional information that might be pertinent.
A motion to adjourn was made by Tommy Pope, seconded by Tommy Price, and was approved unanimously.
