Giles County Finance Office
The Office of Financial Management has the primary responsibility for assuring that Giles County is managed with proper budget controls, accounting and accountability. As the Fiscal Managers, our office works with the County Commission and Mayor to provide information for the budget of the Giles County government and to manage the funds as they are deposited and expensed. Giles County’s annual audits are available to the public for download.
The budget document reflects the priorities of Giles County and becomes the mechanism for moving projects forward. As taxpayers, the citizens of Giles County have a right to know what is in each annual budget and what the plans are for investments in the services provided by the county government.
The Office of Financial Management projects the income for the county and produces the budget document that reflects that direction of the County Commission. Once the appropriations bill is enacted by the County, it is the duty of the Financial Management Office to collect and account for income from taxpayers, the State of Tennessee, grant resources, Federal funding and to expend it consistent with the laws and best practices for government accounting. The resulting financial reports are made available to the Commission members and to general taxpayers.
