Our Goal for Giles County Employees
The Human Resources Department is committed to providing a work atmosphere that is safe, healthy and secure and also conscious of its responsibility for our employees and the overall goals of the community we serve. We focus on establishing, administering and effectively communicating sound policies and practices that treat employees with dignity and equality while maintaining County compliance with employment and labor laws.
Our Mission
Title VI – “no person in the United States shall, on the ground of race, color or national origin be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving federal financial assistance.”
Giles County Government is committed to providing equal opportunity in all programs and services to ensure compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and the Tennessee Code Annotated 4-21-904, which prohibits discrimination against participants or clients of County programs and/or services on the basis of race, color or national origin. These federal and state statutes are intended to ensure all persons, regardless of race, color, national origin or limited English proficiency, are allowed to participate in federal or state funded programs.
Giles County Government participates in federal and state funded programs and in federal programs in which the funds are passed through the State of Tennessee to local governments and some private and nonprofit entities.
Anyone who believes that an agency or local government receiving these federal or state funds has discriminated against someone on the basis of race, color or national origin has a right to file a complaint within 180 days of the alleged discrimination. Complaints are submitted to the Tennessee Human Rights Commission.
